THE FIRST
THIRD
Because of the extreame heat, it was decided by both Peter Yee and Wirral
Nomads manager Matt that we should play three 30 minute thirds as opposed
to two 45 minute halfs. This allowed both teams to have more rest and
avoid dehydration. The match got off to a scrappy start but the Wirral
Chinese managed to make the early impression. Mike Yee received the ball
on the half way line and knocked the ball passed the Wirral Nomad defence.
Through on goal, Mike seemed to almost to have too much time on the ball
and only forced a save from the keeper. Mike Yee took the resulting corner
and Michael Scott timed his run perfectly to head in a goal after only
10 minutes. After that things went well, and we held out without conceding
with the defence and midfield battling to keep things tight. The only
negative point was the injury John Tsang got after a 50/50 challenge.
THE SECOND
THIRD
Anthony Tang replaced John in midfield and his presence helped us stop
the Wirral Nomads scoring. Paul Tsang was commanding in goal and kept
us in the match with some great saves. The defence held up well too, with
Danny, Chung and K.Y. making it hard for the opposition to get back. David
Liu was also playing well cleaning up in his sweeper role and the introduction
of Stephen Barrow at the back helped us hold out until the end of the
2nd third.
THE THIRD
THIRD
After holding on for 2 thirds
the team began to feel the effects of the heat and we started to struggle.
10 minutes into the final third a cross from a Wirral Nomad winger resulted
in a headed goal which seemed to have an element of luck. This proved
to be a sucker punch and the Wirral Nomads capitalised on their strong
attacking play with another headed goal. We kept trying to get that equaliser
but in a scramble the Wirral Nomads scored again, with a hard shot just
outside the area.
OVERALL
We did quite well in the early parts of the game but we seemed to lose
it towards the end of the match. We haven't done so well over the last
couple of games but lets change that in the Wirral Tournament next week!
