THE FIRST HALF
Because only 9 players turned up for the start of the match the Wirral Chinese had to borrow 2 of Lord Napiers! One was a pacey forward Chris, and the other the Lord Napier Captain Roy. Roy was replaced in the middle of the 1st half when Chung finally arrived! Things look downhill from the start as Lord Napier took a 2nd minute lead. But straight from kick-off, Chris' run down the left flank produced an accurate cross which Mike Yee headed in. But the Wirral Chinese's defense was poor and lost the lead again before 10 minutes of the kick-off! The Wirral Chinese responded in the right way by equalising again straight from the kick-off. Lee Tsoi's through ball was chased by Mike Yee and his first time shot was just out of the 'keepers reach (and this was only after 15 mintues!). At 2-2, the match was end-to-end, and the Wirral Chinese were unlucky not to take the lead. Chris' cross from the right was headed down by Chung, and Mike Yee took a shot on the turn. It surprised the goalkeeper who managed to palm it away. M.Yee was quick enough to get another shot in but the 'keeper saved again. For once, things settled for a while and it wasn't untill the 40th minute that a goal was scored. Unfortunatly it was Lord Napiers and they took control of the game. But with a minute left of the first half, Stephen Barrow's skillful run and pass put Mike Yee through once again. Mike ran to the edge of the area and slotted in the near corner to equalise again and complete a first half hatrick!

THE SECOND HALF
The Wiral Chinese showed tiredness from Sunday's pre-season tournament and conceeded 2 goals in the space of about 15 minutes. But Chris ran from the halfway line and beat a couple of players before scuffing his shot into the net. The match being 5 - 4, it was far from over. Lee Tsoi was injured and had to be taken off. This meant that we had to play with 10 men until Mike Scott arrived a minute from time. Stephen Barrow once again managed to slip a ball through and Mike Yee again beat the offside trap. One-on-one with the 'keeper, Mike was far too composed and tried to chip the keeper. It rebounded back to him but he tried to chip again, and the goalkeeper caught it. The only other real chance after that was to Lord Napier, who's hard shot was saved by Alex's face!

OVERALL
There were many good performances from Mike Quek, Lee Tsoi, and Stephen Barrow, but the man of the match award went to Mike Yee for his first half hatrick. He caused many problems to the Lord Napier defence in the second half and was unlucky not to get a fourth or fifth goal as well.
